In Fiscal Year 2010, more than 1 million Alabama citizens qualified for Medicaid benefits through a variety of programs for children, families and pregnant women as well as for elderly and/or disabled people.

  • Citizenship and Identity Information - Effective July 1, 2006, Public Law No. 109-171 Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 Section 6036 requires individuals to provide satisfactory documentary evidence of citizenship or nationality when initially applying for Medicaid or upon a recipient's first Medicaid re-determination.
  • Alabama Long-Term Care Partnership Program - New program to help Alabama residents protect their assets
  • Federal Stimulus Payment Fact Sheet- A one-page fact sheet about how the Alabama Medicaid Agency will count special one-time federal stimulus payments

In order to qualify for Medicaid, you must:

  • Meet all income, age or other requirements
  • Provide proof of your income and other information
  • Fill out all forms correctly
  • Turn your application in to the correct office or worker
