Olmstead Decision

The 1999 U.S. Supreme Court Olmstead Decision requires states to administer their services, programs and activities "in the most integrated setting appropriate to the needs of qualified individuals with disabilities." Since 2000, the Alabama Medicaid Agency has served as lead agency for the Olmstead Planning Initiative in collaboration with the Governor's Office on Disabilities.
