In reference to the ALERT dated August 29, 2014, Alabama Medicaid Cardiology Prior Authorization Program Effective October 1, 2014, the September 15, 2014, date to begin accepting PA requests has been changed to September 30, 2014.
Therefore, Medicaid will allow a grace period from October 1, 2014, until October 17, 2014, for providers to obtain a PA for cardiology procedure codes from CareCore National (CCN). On October 18, 2014, claims for dates of service October 1, 2014, and thereafter that contain a procedure code which requires a PA will be denied.
Medicaid encourages all participating providers to be proactive and ensure the PA is obtained prior to the October 17, 2014 deadline. Providers may begin contacting CCN on September 30th, at 1-855-774-1318, or www.carecorenational.com.
