Dec 8, 2017  -  Five Alabama Medicaid offices have been closed due to inclement weather. This includes offices in Birmingham, Gadsden, Montgomery, Selma and Tuscaloosa. Medicaid recipients with questions may contact 1-800-362-1504 or go to the agency’s website at www.medicaid.alabama.gov for additional assistance.
Public Comment Sought for Living at Home Waiver Amendment
Oct 30, 2017  -  The Alabama Medicaid Agency is seeking public comment on its proposal to amend the Alabama Home and Community-Based Living At Home Waiver (LAH Waiver). The waiver supports Alabama citizens who have a diagnosis of Intellectual Disabilities and who would otherwise require the level of care offered in an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID) institution to remain in the community.
Deadline for ICN Probationary Certification Applications Extended
Aug 24, 2017  -  The Alabama Medicaid Agency has extended the deadline for organizations applying for probationary certification as Integrated Care Networks. These applications will be due after the Mandated Competitive Procurement (MCP) is released; therefore, the MCP will contain a specific due date.
Alabama Medicaid to Pursue an Alternative to Regional Care Organizations
Jul 27, 2017  -  Alabama Medicaid Commissioner Stephanie Azar announced Thursday that in light of known federal administration changes and potential congressional adjustments the Alabama Medicaid Agency will pursue an alternative to the Regional Care Organization (RCO) initiative to transform the Medicaid delivery system. Moving forward, the State will work with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to create a flexible program which builds off the Agency’s current case management structure as a more cost-efficient mechanism to improve recipients’ healthcare outcomes.
