Approximately 10 free-standing radiology facilities are enrolled with the Alabama Medicaid program. Radiology, or x-ray, services are covered as an ancillary service when the other services performed are covered by Medicaid.
The Alabama Medicaid Agency has contracted with MedSolutions to implement a radiology prior authorization program. MedSolutions is a radiology services organization that specializes in managing diagnostic services. Prior authorization is required for CTA Scans, CT Scans, PET Scans, MRAs and MRIs.
