Health Professionals

The participation of health professionals is essential to the Medicaid health care delivery system. In FY 2004, more than half of all eligible Medicaid recipients received physician services. Nurse midwives, nurse practitioners and physician assistants provide services under physician supervision in a variety of clinical settings. Chiropractors and podiatrists provide services to Qualified Medicaid Beneficiaries (QMBs) or as the result of an EPSDT child health screening.
