Drug Utilization Review (DUR) Board

Drug Utilization Review (DUR) is designed to improve the quality of pharmaceutical care by ensuring that prescriptions are appropriate, medically necessary and unlikely to result in adverse medical outcomes. Medicaid’s DUR program includes prospective, online and retrospective review as well as use of standards developed by the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP). A board comprised of physicians and pharmacists provides guidance to Agency staff.
