Recipients in certain Alabama counties may voluntarily choose to participate in a Medicare Advantage plan. Medicaid contracts each year with plans that are willing to accept a monthly fee for each recipient in their program. If the plan accepts the monthly fee then the plan agrees to be responsible for the Medicare co-payments, co-insurance or deductibles. Medicaid will no longer pay these charges.
