Alabama Medicaid patients get medical care from a variety of sources. Click on the questions to see the answers:

An attributed provider is a provider that the recipient has seen most frequently based on two-year historical claims.
You can see any primary care doctor that is actively enrolled with Alabama Medicaid and will accept your Medicaid.
Alabama Coordinated Health Network (ACHN) assigned Medicaid recipients must contact the ACHN for your county as soon as possible to start your care. There is a list of the ACHN contacts on Medicaid’s website under ACHN > ACHN Recipient > ACHN Contacts for Recipients and Interactive Map.
It depends. Some attributed providers may not be an EPSDT provider. For assistance with finding an EPSDT provider, if you are assigned to an Alabama Coordinated Health Network (ACHN), you may contact the ACHN in your region.
You can search for a provider/doctor by using the Provider Directory. The provider directory can be found on the Medicaid website at www.medicaid.alabama.gov. There is a link across the top of the page.
Most specialists require a referral from your primary care provider. Contact your primary care provider to obtain a referral to a specialist.
Medicaid recipients can see any doctor that will accept their Medicaid. You do not need to notify Medicaid to change your doctor (unless you are a lock-in recipient).
The Alabama Coordinated Health Network, or ACHN, is a program that includes different organizations who work with Medicaid to coordinate the care of Medicaid recipients in seven regions of Alabama. ACHN employees will help recipients make better choices in order to have better health outcomes.
