Workgroups and Commissions

Between 2012 and 2016, four groups met to explore opportunities and options for program reform.

The Alabama Medicaid Advisory Commission, established by Executive Order on October 25, 2012, held its first meeting on November 1, 2012. The commission was tasked with evaluating the financial structure of the Alabama Medicaid Agency and recommending ways to increase efficiency while also improving patient care.

The Alabama Medicaid Pharmacy Study Commission was established on June 6, 2013, by Executive Order to review Medicaid's pharmacy delivery and reimbursement system and to evaluate options for reform.

This workgroup was charged with conducting a study of dental care in Alabama, a mandate in a 2013 state law creating regional care organizations for Medicaid recipients. Members are tasked with evaluating dental services with the goal of reporting to Governor Robert Bentley and the state legislature on October 1, 2015.
