Providers, recipients and other interested individuals have the opportunity to provide feedback on the progress of the Plan First Section 1115 Demonstration Waiver during a May public forum. Comments will be taken during an online public forum on Friday, May 1, 2020 at 1:00 p.m.

The forum is a requirement by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for the Section 1115 Demonstration Waiver under which the Plan First program operates. The waiver was originally approved in 2000 and was renewed by CMS on November 27, 2017. The current waiver will expire on September 30, 2022.

The goal of the Plan First program is to reduce unintended pregnancies and improve the well-being of Alabama’s children and families by extending Medicaid eligibility for family planning services to eligible women and men.
