TO:  Speech Therapy and Audiology Providers

RE:   Coverage update for 97550 – 97552 and 92609 

Effective October 1, 2025, the Alabama Medicaid Agency will update coverage of procedure codes 97550-97552 and 92609.

1.    Speech Therapy providers will be allowed to bill 97550-97552.

2.   Speech Therapy and Audiology providers will be allowed to bill 92609:   

·         Procedure code 92609 will be allowed once per calendar year,

•     Will be limited to recipients ages 0 to 20 years,

·         No prior authorization is required.
