RE: Change
to Behavioral Health Covered Services Procedure Codes
Effective January 1, 2024, Licensed Marriage and Family
Therapists (LMFT) enrolled in Alabama Medicaid may provide a diagnosis for
recipients under the age of 21 referred as a result of a valid, completed EPSDT
screening from the recipient’s primary physician.
LMFTs can
bill and receive reimbursement for psychiatric diagnostic evaluations (90791)
and psychiatric diagnostic evaluations with interactive-complexity (90791, 90785).
LMFTs are no longer required to obtain a psychologist’s signature on paperwork
related to a Medicaid recipient's treatment.
